ICF Vs. Traditional Construction

ICF House
Characteristics:

Have high thermal mass properties,
walls are not affected by temperature
or humidity changes

Have wind rating in excess of 150mph (this is
vary important during thunderstorms and tornados)

There are no insulation voids because there
are not internal studs to create voids

Soundproof, you'll never hear a car or dog barking

ICF walls are vapor resistant, this is very important
in NC as we have high humidity in the summer

ICF walls do not decay or provide food value for termites

ICF walls are 70% more efficient then stick frame house,
the HVAC equipment is much smaller and less expensive

Stick Frame House
Characteristics:

Are not thermal mass walls

Are not rated as hurricane resistant

Have voids in insulation at studs, jacks, headers, corners,
t-walls, band board, sills and plates

Do not have low sound transmission rating

Are not moisture and vapor resistant

Will decay from water damage

Is food for termites and other insects

Will require larger HVAC systems, more cost to install and to replace
